Tonight’s demo feature is a band from Winnipeg. They have a brand new 10” ep that I read a review on MRR’s site which described them as 

The impression of listening to the first couple of tracks was about DISORDER/CHAOS UK vibes but this also somehow has a F.Y.P. or Recess Records feel. Less punch or aggression, more garage punky, and sloppy, catchy (somewhat), and most importantly, fun. Artwork consists of pictures of a dump and with song titles like “We’ve Tried Nothing And We’re All Out Of Ideas” it sounds like trash in the most appropriate way possible. 

The recording is great and we’ll add a link to our blog tomorrow, but here is a demo recorded three years earlier.

The Action "Complete Punk Recordings 1977-1978" CD

The Action were a punk band in 1977 from Ottawa. They released an ep back in 1977 which had "TVs on the Blink" that has made it onto a couple of KBD like comps. It's the song that the band is known for. The ep also contained a Lou Reed cover on it. Sudden Death collects an unreleased ep and some live material by the band to fill out a CD's worth of stuff. Various Artists "Only in Canada, Eh '77-'81, Volume 1" CD

Punk History Canada pulled this compilation together. Unlike the "Smash the State" comps this release just showcased one song. As a result they were able to get loads of bands in on it. And they worked hard at getting regional representation. Unlike the Killed by Death comps, this one focused on Canada. The booklet contains interesting little anecdotes about all the bands found on the comp. The CD contains the follwoing songs:

Various Artists "Permanent New Wave" LP

Montreco had just agreed to release a Viletones record. I don't think they realized it was a previously released 7". They had done an ep by the Action and were working with a band from L.A. called Venus and the Razor Blades. This compilation was the label's last release before going bankrupt. They did have other releases planned outside of this sampler, but they never came to fruitition. My favourite song on this is the opening trackl by X Ray Spex.

The Action "TVs on the Blink" 12"

This Ottawa band is known for this 12" that was released on Montreco. "TV's on the Blink" is the song that stands out and has been recognized as such by getting put on the Punk History Canada comp and some other Killed By Death like bootlegs. The song was also used on the Montreco sampler "Permanent New Wave". The 12" also contained "I'm Waiting for My Man" which was a Velvet Underground cover. "Downtown Boys" have a story that Ted spoke about in our interview and "Do The Strangle' was to emulate the dance craze songs from the 50's, but with a punk twist. So the track listing is:
