A while back when the G-MEN were in to do a studio 3 session Mopa started talking to me about Number Stations which occupy a frequency on the short wave band and are usually run by governments as a way of communicating code to agents in the field. But the mics weren't recording because this was one of those after interview conversations. But I never forgot about them. So a few weeks ago when I was catching up with Mopa Dean about Armed and Hammered, I had him explain to me what number stations are. Here's a primer on that subject.

The Queen passed away on Thursday, which is the day we are producing this show. So we started off the show with “Monarchy Zoom” by DOOM. But getting back to the queen. It was surprisingly hard to find songs about the monarchy given that the Sex Pistols most famous song is “God Save the Queen”. So this first set of material is songs about that starting off with a demo version of that Sex Pistols song recorded in 1977 at Gooseberry Studios.

On tonight’s show we have a tribute to the SAINTS. Singer, Chris Bailey, just passed away on April 9th. We have a feature on SST to highlight the release of a new book on the label called - Corporate Rock Sucks: The Rise and Fall of SST Records. We have a feature on Shoulder called “Family Tree” which is about the band and the bands that came out of Shoulder. Given the religious significance of the weekend, we pulled together a set looking at punk songs that critique religion. And the demo feature is a d-beat band from Nova Scotia called Black Dog. We continue our look at 2021 with more top 10 sets Christian looks back at LPs (Chubby and the Gang, Rata Negra, pols), Dave Stevenson takes us through his favourite eps (Taqbir, Blood Loss, Crown Court), and Stephe highlights his top ten Canadian releases (Bootlicker, Phane, Imploders). The demo feature is back with a release of one of the first Czech bands known as Radegast. Even though this demo was recorded in 1986 it has just been re-released as a collection.
