Simply Saucer "Cyborgs Revisted" CD

This was a CD issue of the infamous "Cyborgs Revisted" LP that was recorded at Bob and Daniel Lanois's home studio on July 14th and 15th, 1974, making it the first recording of a band associated with the punk scene. Sonic Unyon was responsible for the re-issue. These songs are:

1. Instant Pleasure
2. Electro Rock
3. Nazi Apocalypse
4. Mole Machine
5. Bullet Proof Nothing
6. Here Come the Cyborgs (Part 1)
7. Here Come the Cyborgs (Part 2)

The interesting thing about this record was that it contained two live songs recorded at Jackson Square. These songs were:

8. Dance the Mutation
9. Illegal Bodies
The CD re-issue also contains bonus material made up from three different sources. The first batch are from a rehearsal tape recorded by Edgar's brother Paul onto cassette on October 16th, 1977. These songs are:

10. Low Profile
11. Little Sally
12. Get My Thrills
13. I Take It
The second batch of stuff is a live recording at the Hamilton YWCA on January 8th, 1978. These songs are:

14. Yes I Do
15. Bullet Proof Nothing
16. Now's the Time for the Party
The last two songs were the sing released by their manager Gary Pig Gold and are:

17. I Can Change My Mind
18. She's A Dog

Zine - Konflict in the Kino, Issue 02

Click on the image to open up file or save it as a PDF.

This second issue starts out with an article on the closing of the Eaton's Centre cinemas. Dion compiles a hit list of theatres that closed in Toronto in the last little while. The issue is filled with reviews of movies and music. This is one of my personal favourites.

Tijuana Bibles "Siesta Fiesta! " ep

A brand new 3- song self- released ep by this local surf- garage quintet of scene veterans. The ep opener is a humourous back and forth between the Crippler and Super Destroyer set to the bouncey blues bottom end of Blue Demon. It's a fun lo-fi carefree number "Jet Pack" is an instrumental with the Felina Negra's organs taking the lead. The song has all the creepy eerieness of an Ed Wood monster movie space flick. It is airy and casio-like with all the trappings of a K-Mart Hallowe'en soundtrack In this song the guitars and bass work much better for a tough working man's surf sound. "Sleep Mask" rolls along like tumbleweed in a Spaghetti western. It has the air to it of siesta right before a Mexican shoot out. Fans of SHADOWY MEN FROM A SHADOWY PLANET will dig the Bibles, but prepared for a little more darker, creepy sound to your Mexican surf. (Trophy Records / PO. Box 477, Station C / Toronto, ON / M6J 3P5 / Canada). The songs on here are:

1. Not Here to Fight
2. Jet Pack
3. Sleep Mask
