Between 1989 and 1999, the Belgian hardcore scene was a fervent powerhouse of hardcore punk. In West Flanders, this was especially prominent with the emergence of H8000, named after the region's postal code. The "H" was added later. During this time, a subgenre of hardcore emerged that would go on to influence many bands after 1999. Here is a small taste of that era.

Ska Outro
Jackie Mittoo was just awarded the Polaris Heritage Award for the album “Macka Fat”. Mittoo was one of the first musical director’s for Studio One working with the Skatallites. This album was considered a foundational reggae album and an important album for the Jamaica to Toronto musical pipeline. Jackie Mittoo moved to Toronto in 1969 and lived here the rest of his life. His haunting organ playing would go on to inspire the Specials “Ghost Town” and here is a song that sounds a little like that called “Lazy Bones”.

JACKIE MITTOO - Lazy Bones (Studio 1 / Coxsonne)
