The ripple effect of Mein Trumpf's hockey dad response to the real threats by the boys in blue on People of Colour spread out world wide this weekend. The push back happened and although we are hopeful that something will come of it, the problem is a decades old problem. Looking back over forty years of punk the one theme the comes up generation after generation is how badly the cops suck. Thanks to everyone who contributed on facebook with their suggestions. We weren't able to fit all of them in and it is clear that we could probably do a second show. Sadly we probably will have to because if you are a Person of Colour or a Punk George Floyd's experience is going to happen again. Hope this can become a soundtrack for resistance. Chris and Jeff from Left for Dead came in just before the show to give us the back story to Left for Dead. I had been trying to do a definitive interview about Left for Dead for months given how much they mean to this city and it took tracking them down at sound check for the Not Dead yet finale to have them in the same city at the same time near a radio station.

To say that they were influential is to understate the band's impact on the scene locally and internationally. There is a lot of residue that lives on and earlier this year the band played and has contiued to play and write new material. I wanted to get at the origins of the band and the meanings behind their songs and the history of their recordings and releases told as a story.

The Sound of your City drive

 

Tonight's EXD's portion of CIUT's funding drive. The theme is "The Sound of your City" and so as a way breathing life into the theme tonight's show will feature only Toronto bands. there are so many great bands in the city at the moment and so many from the past. Appreciate the sound of the scene that gets kicked around by the rest of the country. In addition we have a few pledge incentives that can only be gotten by calling in between 10:00pm and midnight on Sunday night. Those gifts include:

We have been plagued by breakdowns on the production studio and as a result had to replace a new computer and we have had steady interruptions by construction crews around the station that have cut into our broadcast lines.
