WARFARE STATE were from Ottawa. They featured Katie Whitaker who I would go on to be in a band with called Countdown to Oblivion. Katie would go on to play in Brutal Knights and Legion666 and Pete Beudoin would go on to play in Born Dead Icons and more recently Dekoder. This band would go on to have a split with Nema from Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a ten song demo they recorded in 1995.

White Riot set
A film by Rubika Shah about the Rock Against Racism movement in the UK. A look at the people who started the underground movement and the bands that supported it. The film will be available for screening on July 9th and you can see a preview of the film above. Here are some of those bands…….

That was L’ETRANGER with a song called “One People” which came off their second release “Running out of Funtown”. We started out with “White Riot” by the CLASH which is the name of a new film about the underground Rock Against Racism movement in the UK that started as a reaction to the rise of the National front and some racist sentiments that Eric Clapton was expressing. A music journalist wrote a letter daring musicians to be the agent of change and they responded. The Clash were big supporters of the movement in word and deed. SHAM 69, X Ray Spex, and Alien Kulture were part of the movement in the UK and Young Lions and L'Etranger were part of the Toronto counterpart.
