Dave Davies played bass in Son of Happy. He passed away in December. He was very understated, and bandmate Chris LeBonte tells us about Dave, but first a song called “Couch Potato” which was in part about Dave.

Son of Happy "t.a.l.h.s.o.m.a." cassette

Son of Happy recorded this at Reaction Studios in June 1988. The band featured Chris Labonte on vocals and guitar, Skeletor on bass, and Dave Davies on drums. The title of this was an acronym for something. Chris was an artist and did all the band's artwork including the sticker below. The songs on here are:

This was a benefit show for an animal rights organization known as ARK II held at the Silver Dollar.

MRR Scene report - Canada scene report in May 1988

There are a couple of scene reports in issue #60 of  MRR. 

The first report was written by DAC and  is on Winnipeg. They talk about the Beach Mutants, Artificial life, Dangerously Americanized Canadians, and Corups Vile.  

Simon Harvey writes the Toronto scene report. Simon was doing a zine back then called Breach of Discipline and he writes about the closing of Ildiko's and the opening of the Slither and the Silver Dollar.  He writes of releases by Sons of ishmael, Hype, Sudden Impact, DOG, and Problem Children. Simon writes about the break up of Godcorp., Son of Happy and a list of new bands and zines active in the city.

Zine - Intense #4

Intense is a zine that Dave Petricic did. This was his fourth issue.

This issue starts out with an SNFU interview on a tour that happened in between the second and third albums.

There is an interview with Confront, who were a straught edge band from Cleveland. Dave takes Oi Polloi to task for rumous on racism. Hunger Artist from Rochester get a page. This is one of the first interviews I saw of Son of Happy who were a local band. And an interview I did with Scream is in this issue.
 
There are some reviews and a photo section made up of photos by Kim Glaholm. There is some Agnostic Front love and a review of a talk on censorship by Jello Biafra.

This is their first issue and it is impressive in that there are a lot of local bands. The interviews are brief, but they get down to the basics which were often missed in a lot of interviews. The cover says it all.
