Radio - Sunday, May 2nd, 2021

Tonight's EXD will feature a set of lesser known anarchist bands from the UK scene, a set on police violence (playing catch up with the George Floyd case), an anti nuke tribute in honour of the 35th anniversary since Chernobyl melted down, and a set of song titles that sound absurd. Pok Gai from Ottawa in our demo feature. And that brief doesn't cover all the directions we get into for tonight's punk extravaganza. Download the show here.

CHIN-CHIN - We Don't Wanna Be Prisoners (Farmer / Mississippi)

Anarcho punk
I have been reading Ian Glasper's book "The Day the Country Died" which writes about many bands in the anarcho punk scene in the UK and I have been coming across some of these lesser known bands so I thought I would put together some songs from some of these bands.

April 5th marked the 25 years since Kurt Cobain took his life. Grunge was already a sub genre of the punk and indie scene at that point and the scene would go on evolving in different ways. Like all anniversaries many radio stations did mini tributes that week to Nirvana, which involved brief editorials and playing "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Rob Ferraz took an in depth look at Seattle and the bands that developed that sound and the scene in tonight's show. Download the show here.
