Rhythmic heavy hitting musical pattern designed to trigger aggressive dancing. Aggressive dancing is something that happens in the pit and can also evoke the skank. The dance originated in Huntington Beach originally known as the Huntington Strut. The dance was recreated on the East coast scenes of DC, Boston and New York. The word was white kids misinterpreting HR saying “Mash Down Babylon”. Here are some of my favourite songs with a mosh beat in them that I think demonstrate evolutionary points in the mosh beat.
CIRCLE JERKS - I just want some skank (Trust)
BAD BRAINS - Big Takeover (Roir)
AGNOSTIC FRONT - With Time (Rat Cage / Bridge 9)
YOUTH OF TODAY - Youth Crew (Revelation)
STRAIGHT AHEAD - Spirit of Youth (I Risk)

HARD STANCE - Intro / Hard Stance (Self-released)
CHARADE have played a few shows in town. The band features members in other bands like 9 Million but the singer Lia has been in other amazing bands like Triage and VCR. Greg Benedetto likened this recording to Rest in Pieces which is that band from NYC that some members would go in to be in Sick of It All. No nonsense ripping hardcore.
