On tonight's EXD, we have more listener appreciation by Rick from the band Illusion. Lots more new material (Crisis Beat, Ignition Block M, and Languid). We got some oldies (The Nerves, the Boomtown Rats, and Alternative TV). And we have a feature interview with Moe Berg about the Modern Minds and the early Edmonton punk scene. Download the show here.

Last Sunday, I was able to speak with Moe Berg, who is best known for being the lead singer and guitarist for the Pursuit of Happiness. Well it turns out that Moe got his start in a punk band called THE MODERN MINDS. I had first learned about the MODERN MINDS in Sam Sutherland’s book “Perfect Youth” and many people from that scene would have similar stories about how important the Modern Minds were for the Edmonton punk scene. In 2018 a local label named Ugly Pop put out a vinyl release of a collection that had been put together ten years earlier. We are going to start off with a song about their home town called “Bungalow Rock”.
