My introduction to the Real Sickies starts with meeting their singer Ben Disaster in his previous band Let's Dance that did a studio 3 session at the old studio. It was a memorable session because they broke out a cover of Sweet's "Fox on the Run" and they did a dual session with Tyranna so it was a busy day. But Let's Dance had opened for Tyranna the night before and Zoe was filling in on vocals and was from Edmonton and Zoe being a champion for bands from Edmonton dragged them along. I didn't know much about Ben's new band or about how Let's Dance broke up. But they were memorable to me so I was excited to meet up with Ben again and the latest band and the recordings are infectious. So tonight's show features that interview with Ben (singer), Evan (guitarist) and Alex (guitarist) that we conducted at the end of September right before their show at the Bovine. I was grateful to talk to them. Here is the download and playlist for tonight's show.

These folks are super active in their local scene with radio shows. Alex hosts the long running "Big A, Little A" on CJSR. Alex used to do a radio drama about goths called "Darkness of my Soul". Ben hosts "This is Pop" also on CJSR but this show is also syndicated on a number of other campus community stations across the country. Evan used to do a podcast called "Punk Rock Playground : Locals Only" which focused on the Edmonton scene and had a number of projects related to it.
