MUD were a hardcore punk band from the early 1990’s. My first band One Blood played many shows with them and they made us better. But nobody could be as entertaining as Mud so it was a losing game playing with them. Their songs were always evolving as the band was influenced by Frank Zappa’s style. Some of them went to OCAD and they would bring these learnings to the stage with themes and costumes. I have been thinking about them this week because I just learned that one of their lead singers, Mitchell Shore just passed away. I don’t know how to do justice when speaking about Mitchell. He was always in on fun. Often picking up on jokes and running with them. He could really bring laughter to life. He also had a moral compass that was stronger than most. In discussions with that guy he would often get you to see another viewpoint and motivate you to get involved. He was the best of us and I am broken up by his passing.
There was a recording that the band did that Chris Iler from Fans of Bad Productions digitized and kept alive and although we don’t have enough time on tonight’s show to play it all I would like to play some of it as a tribute to someone I loved to laugh with.
