Shock and Awe is an all night film festival running till almost the afternoon of the next day showcasing long lost drive-in shlock, and many other film never seen on the big screen.
It's presented by Dion Conflict and The Revue Cinema in Toronto.
"SHOCK AND AWE" pays homage to the grindhouse experience, unearthing some of the rawest and rarest 35mm and 16mm prints of these long lost films (which themselves more than likely ran in grindhouse theatres or low-rent drive-ins), with some prints being the last ...remaining copies left of the films themselves.
Much more than just a film screening, SHOCK AND AWE is a genuine experience that cannot be missed. In addition to the unforgettable films on screen, there will be loads of merchandise, featuring obscure exploitation collectables, including Super 8 films, B-movie DVD's, and small press items from other GTA area film publications. Intermissions will also feature themed snack bar offerings at the Revue including breakfast items, film tie-in themed treats, and selections from local area restaurants.
This time around the features include a deranged Klaus Kinski as Jack the Ripper, the McDonalds friendly E.T. ripoff Mac & Me, Johnny Yuma (Shock & Awe’s first Western!), The Swingin Cheerleader, and a mystery film guaranteed to delight. Headlining the event will be Jean-Claude Van Damme’s breakthrough film Bloodsport!! All movies will be on 16/35mm film, and delicious food and goodies will be provided throughout the evening! Tickets available at the cinema, Film Buff West (73 Roncesvalles.), Eyesore Cinema (801 Queen St. W) & Suspect Video (605 Markham St.) $20 advance. $25 at the door.

It's been a week of hanging out with the Sluts. Sluts on 45 are a great new punk rock party band that take the piss out of the K-Tel like invention of the Hooked on 45 series in name only, but they certainly have a good time playing punk rock with some underlying empowering messages, but never at the expense of having fun. The band features Sue "Powerpipes" Brazen on vocals, Shawna from Torawna on guitar, Kraeg Deezkust (who couldn't make it out to the live interview) on bass, and Matt "Sticks" Frazer on drums. They were in on Tuesday to record a session and came in on this show for a live radio grilling, which was more like a get to know ya session. The band also brought in some new studio recordings like Twitchy's rendition of "Waltz me Dirty" and the new recording for "Brown Liquor" which has Zero doing backing vocals. We talked about how the started, some of the sows they have played, the recordings they have been involved in, the video for "Let's Party" and a host of other antics. You can hear the show using the player above or download the MP3 file.

So this will bee the second time this summer that a band has made it athough way out from PEI. That seems crazy to me given I have never seen a band from PEI before. Uncle are reportedly a power violence band and they have a bandcamp page at http://
IDNS will be playing with their new drummer Daren who also moonlights in Make No Gains.
And Skunx have a demo out called "Public Disgrace".

Sluts on 45 studio 3 session
It was a training day for sure. Marie came by from a co-op down in Riverdale to witness a session in action. Candy was down to figure out how to handle the video gear when Aldo is away for the next session. Thankfully she brought her camera with her because these are all her shots. I knew Shawna from the Arson session, but I didn't realize that I had also seen her play in Spotty Botty way back when. Sue Brazen, also known as "Powerpipes"for her ability to sing without a microphone had played in previous bands and her siging style reminds me a lot of Dan from the Black Donnellys. Kreag Deezkust used to play in a band with Shawna and has been a fixture in this band for a while now. And Matt Frazer answered a Craigslist ad for a drummer and got the spot when he answered correctly to the question "Are you a slut?" They refer to Matt as "Sticks". Matt is a long time listener to CIUT and Mods n Rockers in particular. Maybe he will start listening to this show.
Anyway to complicate things we were also expecting Ruidosa Inmundicia to come down and record some songs if they could make it away from their gig at Parts and Labour. Luckily that didn`t happen because we wound up being pressed for time. Unfortunately it didn`t happen because how many times do you get to record a band from Austria with a singer from Chile. Jonathon Hawkes was our sound engineer after doing a day of audio work already. He was pretty knackered, but that didn`t seem to affect the sound. The session got started late but we were able to record everything and finish on time.
We recorded the following songs:
3. Go Away
5. 123 Dunn
6. From Home
8. Traffic Cop
9. Crazy Train
10. Brown Liquor
11. Problem
12. Bored (The Troggs)
We also recorded a bunch of IDs but you have to listen to the show to hear those, which is found on the next radio show post.
The band has an 'ep' which is really a digital download of a recording called "Steeped in Semen`` up at their bandcamp page.
Aldo and Candy videotaped the set for Punks and Rockers which will be posted up here in a couple of months. Check back.
