Kremlin “Will you feed me?” ep

This may be KREMLIN’s third recording, but it is their first release on a label. Surprisingly there are loads of new songs not yet heard on the previous two demoes. The opening song has an early Finnish hardcore flair to it, with a wild pace and shouted back up vocals. The production is lo fi and gives it that “Russia Bombs Finland” feel to it. This song goes immediately into a more mid paced JESUS AND THE GOSPELFUCKERS “Kill the Police” like number. All the while Zack’s guitar has this feedback snarl that reminds me of Marcel’s electric bullwhip lash in “Coho! Coho!”. The whole band reminds me of the way many early hardcore bands worked from a DISCHARGE premise and developed all these amazing different sounds. Like the FARTZ or LARM or almost any of the early great hardcore band’s. That is what DIRECT ACTION from here seemed like to me. A band that worshipped DISCHARGE but wound up playing something different than D-Beat. This is a band and a recording to be reckoned with drawing on many styles of hardcore and spitting out something unique and yet familiar. (Hardware Records – P.O. Tonight's show featured a couple of sets dedicated to the students in Quebec who have just been put under further attach by the Charest government given the new legistlations of restrictions to numbers of people who can gather and restrictions for people covering their face. Misty Rock n Roll brought a set of sunshine to mark a day that felt like the start of summer. And then we had a set that started off with a song about pizza because Kelly had just arrived to the show with a giant vegan tomato pie. Radio - Sunday May 13th, 2012

This is the Mother's Day (May 13th) edition of EXD and in honour of Mother's Day we started off with the Lucky Ones and a song called "Your mother's a man". Just a little humour to start off the show before getting into a set of material inspired by the student protests in Quebec, which see the provincial government making it too expenisve for kids to go to university, which really sees them pulling out of the investment in our future. So the first set is about how bleak our future is. Rob gets into some recent Ugly Pop 5 re-issues with the Hot nasties and the Rock and Roll Bitches among others. D'Arcy features an all Canadian set with the Truncheons. And the show ends up with a demo feature by a new crust band from Montreal called Disrape. Listen to the show or read our playlist below.
