Zine - Femzine #1

Femzine was a punk fanzine put together by Melanya Aguila back in the early 90's. Femzine was a fanzine in keeping with the feminist ideologies of the riot grrrl movement at that time. Femzine came out of Toronto. The first issue features:

  • Disempowering the Media by Sara Davidson
  • We're Never Going Back by Dana Ward
  • Creeps in the Streets by Lisa Myers
  • Talkin' Civil Disobedience by Corinne and Bee
  • interview with Liz Stimpson (Dis-abled Women's Network) by Mary Jankulak
  • interview with Chicken Milk
  • interview with Mourning Sickness
  • interview with Shary Boyle of Liquid Joy

Melanya was a student at Ontario College of Art at the time and so there was either mediums which included poetry, drawings, graphic novel animation (Paula Gonzales) and other outside the box kind of pieces making the zine stand out.
