As mentioned in the introduction to the broadcast, this session was a long time in the planning stages. The original date was to coincide with reading week (Tuesday February 19th). For some reason we were not able to access the recording equipment that night, but we were able to do the first half of this interview, which was just under an hour. We covered the band's first three recordings, influences some of which we hear in their covers of Stars and Stripes and CCR and others that they talk about in the song "My Toronto", which is supposed to be an adoption of the F.U.'s "My America", except as applied to Etobicoke. Dead Seeds are tonight's demo feature and they are from Oakland. The band feature Bill who used to put on shows in Waterloo and did some great artwork for my last band Countdown to Oblivion. Wastoids studio 3 session

This was our second attempt at recording the Wastoids. This sesion has been at least six months in the planning stages and after the last botched effort I was beginning to believe that it wasn't going to happen. Julian, is back from his schooling at the Omega house in Montreal and our first attempt was trying to squeeze somethng in on reading week where we were able to get an interview together. To give you some background on the Wastoids, they are essentially from Etobicoke. Matt and Campbell play in Direct Approach. Conor played in Snakepit and plays currently in Spearhead. Wastoids is Julian's only band and he is very enthusiastic which comes across in the interview. The band has told me that the have re thought doing the Screwdriver cover which is great news. They did perform a cover of Choke's oi band Stars and Stripes and they also did an ode to "dad rock" doing a great version of CCR. I think they improved it. This is the semi-annual fundraising drive show. This season's theme is "the Evolution continues", which is a take off on the last theme "The Evolution of Sound". This is the program for Equalizing-X-Distort on Superbowl Sunday and I had just heard an interview with Malcolm Gladwell equating the NFL to a bloodsport with regards to dementia so I started out with 7 Seconds "I Hate Sports", for which the lyrics of the song start out "I hate football games".

In Toronto, our Mayor is in the midst of his latest scandal, this one regarding election overspending, so we started off the show with bands that have written about the Rob Ford influence on this city.

Ivan starts out a set with a band from Mexico and also plays the Hygiene single which features a guy from the Toronto scene on vocals. He also gets the Feederz and the Comes and the Damned in a set.

Rob profiles the latest Ugly Pop garage series releases. Bands like A Passing Fancy and Northwest Company.

There was a second setbased around current events but more of an international nature looking at the Superbowl, the Idle No More protest at Lansdowne and Dupont, The escalating war in Syria, and the tech stories with RIM and Twitter. It is my version of "Riffing the News".

D'Arcy did a set of hard hitting hardcore.

Ivan did a second setof classics, this time playing Systematic Death and Icons of Filth and the Chiefs.

We started off tonight's show with a tribute to Hits and Misses because they are closing down this week so we started by playing the song that the store was named after.

Then we went into a live interview with Demolition who drove down from Barrie. We got a sense of who they are, where they come from in terms of influences, some insight into their songs, and where they are going in terms of recordings and shows.

We played some new Canadian material such as the New School Jerks LP and the new Wasteoids demo.

And we finished with a demo by a band from Helsinki called Autuus. The name translates to mean Bliss, which could be true if you are a fan of a pan-Scandi sound in hardcore embodied by bands like Āäritila.
