MRR Scene report - Canada scene report in May 1988

There are a couple of scene reports in issue #60 of  MRR

The first report was written by DAC and  is on Winnipeg. They talk about the Beach Mutants, Artificial life, Dangerously Americanized Canadians, and Corups Vile.

Simon Harvey writes the Toronto scene report. Simon was doing a zine back then called Breach of Discipline and he writes about the closing of Ildiko's and the opening of the Slither and the Silver Dollar.  He writes of releases by Sons of ishmael, Hype, Sudden Impact, DOG, and Problem Children. Simon writes about the break up of Godcorp., Son of Happy and a list of new bands and zines active in the city.

Zine - Pirates of Doom #2

Click for download
This is the second issue of this Mississauga zine. This issue starts out with an interview with Steve Goof from BFG. There was an interview with Sons of Ishmael. There is an interview with Don of Reuben Kincade who managed Hype. There is an interview with the singer and drummer from October Crisis. Hype gets interviewed, which makes sense given john was playing guitar in the band at the time. There is an interview with Charlie Brown's Wang who would become Missing Link. One of the few interviews with the amazing Social Suicide from Brantford. There are interviews with Samhain and 7 Seconds when they were through Toronto. There are some explanatory pictures of skateboard tricks and some pictures of Gang Green and SCUM.

Zine - Breach of Discipline #1

This is their first issue and it is impressive in that there are a lot of local bands. The interviews are brief, but they get down to the basics which were often missed in a lot of interviews. The cover says it all.

Bunchofuckingoofs "There's NoSolution, So There's No Problem"dbl ep

This was the first release by BFG. There is so much to write about BFG, but let's just focus on this release. It was a double ep. The records were put out by Steve's nephew who hung out with the Goofs. He called his label Back Alley Records, which was fitting because at the time the entrance to the fort was through a back alley. The songs on here are:
1. Alcoholiday Turned Alcoholocaust
2. Too Bad
3. Creating Criminals 2 Create Employment
4. Exploding Glue Bags
5. Religion
6. Putting Us Down
7. Preprogrammed
8. Total Breakdown
